There's only one thing that can make our gorgeous solid timber floating shelves even more stunning – and that's the perfect lighting to showcase their natural beauty. Brightlight's high-quality LED channels, precision-engineered diffusers, reliable power supplies, and advanced COB lighting technology work together to create seamless illumination that brings out every grain detail and sets the perfect ambiance for your space.

LED Strip lighting is purchased per 100mm length. 

Every LED Strip lighting purchase includes the below;

1. The cost to route the LED channel in the timber shelf
2. Alloy channel (in your selected colour)
3. Rolled Opal Diffuser
4. A high quality COB LED ribbon which produces a 'dot-free' result (in your selected watt per meter brightness and 'k-rating')

All you need is to add a Power Supply of your choice.

What is a COB (Chip on Board)

COB (Chip-on-Board) LEDs create a remarkably smooth, spotless appearance because they pack many tiny LED chips directly onto a single circuit board, eliminating the individual point sources of light you'd see with traditional LED strips. Instead of distinct dots of light, COB technology produces one continuous, uniform line of illumination - think of it like the difference between a string of Christmas lights versus a glowing tube.

Why COB looks spotless: The multiple chips are so densely packed and close together that they blend into one seamless light source. When you look at a COB strip, you won't see individual LED hotspots or gaps between lights - just perfectly even illumination along the entire length.

Choosing your watt per meter rating:

6 watts per meter - Perfect for accent lighting, under-cabinet lighting, or decorative applications where you want subtle ambient light. Great for highlighting architectural features or creating mood lighting in bedrooms and living spaces.

9 watts per meter - The sweet spot for most residential applications. Provides excellent task lighting for kitchens, workspaces, and areas where you need good visibility without being overpowering. Ideal for cove lighting or general indoor accent work.

12 watts per meter - Your high-output option for areas requiring bright, functional lighting. Perfect for commercial spaces, detailed work areas, or anywhere you need maximum brightness. Also great for outdoor applications or large spaces that need substantial illumination.

Brightness of incandescent bulb vs LED bulb.

Just multiple the watt/meters by the length of COB to determine the full wattage (brightness) of the LED. For example a 6 watts per meter COB 2m long has a total watts output of 12W which is equivalent to an incandescent wattage (brightness) of around 100w.

Choosing your colour temperature:

3000K (Warm White) - Creates a cozy, welcoming atmosphere similar to traditional incandescent bulbs. Best for living rooms, bedrooms, restaurants, or any space where you want relaxation and comfort.

4000K (Neutral White) - Offers clean, crisp light that's neither too warm nor too cool. Excellent for kitchens, bathrooms, offices, and retail spaces where you need good colour rendering and a modern feel.
